Bahay Kubo - Traditional Filipino House
Back when the days are still young and the use of concrete is still not affordable in the Philippines. Bahay kubo or Nipa Hut is a traditional Filipino house. This is made of bamboo for the posts, sawali or weave bamboo strands for the walls, nipa leaves can also be used for the walls and roof.
One thing I like very much with this Philippines house is simple and very native. When you are inside, you don't feel warm because of the Nipa roof, unlike Galvanized Iron roofing sheets. When building this type of house you are not only saving money since materials can be very cheap but you also contribute to saving the environment, or it is an earth friendly house.
Small house designs like this is still being used on remote places in the Philippines specially in areas where cement, steel and G.I. roofing sheets are unfordable.
